As we prepared for our offshore trip to Catalina Island, we inspected our safety gear for expired batteries, signalling devices, ditch bag, etc.  Chuck promised to have enough safety equipment on board to make us safe out at sea.  I think we got it!!!

We spent a lot of time researching the right equipment.  I think the most important safety equipment any mariner should have on board is an EPIRB (Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon), and I would not travel offshore without one.   I have helped a few other boaters with their searches as well.  To that end, here are links to the equipment we found to work best for us:
